The Gentlemen is coming back for a third season, and Netflix ordered it before season two had even aired. Variety confirmed the renewal on August 24, 2026, for a run of eight episodes. Season two followed on September 3.

Guy Ritchie returns to direct, and he writes the new season with Matthew Read. In his renewal statement Ritchie said a third season “felt inevitable”.

Where production stands

It is at an early stage. Variety reported that the season was in pre-production, with no scripts finalised and no new casting agreed. It also said filming was due to start imminently.

Radio Times said there was no trailer yet because cameras had not rolled. Theo James, who plays Eddie Horniman, told the magazine production would begin “pretty soon”.

The likely wait

Netflix has not named a date. Radio Times points out that the first two seasons sat two and a half years apart. Season two then reached Netflix 16 months after filming began, and on that pace the magazine guesses late 2027. That is a guess, and Radio Times labels it as one.

Who is coming back

The two leads, James and Kaya Scodelario as Susie Glass, anchor the new season. Radio Times expects most of the core cast to return. That means Ray Winstone’s Bobby Glass and Daniel Ings’s Freddy, fresh from a cliffhanger. It also lists Joely Richardson’s Lady Sabrina, Vinnie Jones’s gamekeeper Geoff and Giancarlo Esposito’s billionaire Stanley Johnston.

Some characters will not be back. Radio Times lists Hugh Bonneville’s Lord Hawthorne, Pearce Quigley’s Gospel John and Benedetta Porcaroli’s Bella among those who died in season two. Tyler Conti’s Joe ended the season packed off to Peru.

What about Meghan Markle?

Nothing is confirmed. Variety said no casting had been settled, whatever the rumours about the Duchess of Sussex. Radio Times added that the cast had played the idea down.

The next news to watch for is a start of filming. Until then, every release date in circulation is an estimate.
